3D Printing Graduates to Printing Human Tissue!!

The first thought of 3D printing is construction material, blueprints, and even some innovative ideas about printing physical material. This thought of 3D printing has been re-invented over the past 3-5 years and has been making waves across the world.  Major printer manufacturers are lining up to reinvent this type of printer and technologically advance its features. The possibilities of 3D printing are endless with the future unfolding. Even though still at its infancy state, there are some companies and technology enthusiasts which have decided to take 3D printing to another level. This next level could change the way how medical practice is done, save lives, and give humanity a much-needed foothold on life.

The new level of 3D printing which we speak of is a 3D printer which can print body tissue.  Yes, you did read correctly, a 3D printer which can print human body tissue. Impossible, you say? Well that is what many said when the first person discovered the world is not flat or that space is impossible, but it is now a reality.  There so many discoveries and unthought of inventions that lay within human beings. The untapped potential within society is only the beginning of our potential. 3D printing is now tailoring the impossible to now being possible.  3D printing of human tissue will essentially change the makeup of the medical industry and how tissue replacement is done.

This 3D printer was originally designed to build therapeutic biomaterials. With recent enhancements, this printer has printed test materials.  The test materials that this printer is capable of printing is so complex and precise in its product that they closely resemble human tissue. One of the most remarkable features of human tissue is its complexity. Complexity in the design, function, and capabilities is what makes human tissue so hard to replicate. For this reason, when it comes to replacing tissue, the only replacement in previous years has been getting tissue from a donor.  If this printer can pass the test of its products being able to not only have the complexity of human organs, but then to function the same, then this printer will essentially change the way how we currently go about replacing tissue.

Many people that need transplants and other body tissues could get immediate treatment and not have to wait on a donor list, someone to qualify, or run the risk of losing their lives. Revolutionizing the health industry is something that is often slow and coming, but when there is innovation to bring about that change, it is always worth the effort.  Replacing human tissue depending on the need for that part could be at the cost of someone else’s life or even if not costing the other person their life, putting them at risk due to surgery.  Eliminating this need is not only a desire, but also a requirement that this 3D printer can possibly solve.

Ali Khademhosseini, which is a professor at UCLA is leading the charge with this technology and is certain of its capabilities.  According to Professor Khademhosseini, its about changing the approach which allows them the ability to build complex biocompatible structures from various materials. The brains behind the 3D printer is two components which allows it to create the complexity needed to achieve what other 3D printers cannot currently do.  The first component is a custom-built microfluidic chip. This chip is the brains behind the flow of fluid into micrometer-sized channels.  Each of the inlets that Is printed with different material. Within the microfluidic chip is over a million mirrors which move independently. This gives the function of being able to mix, pump, sort, or control biochemical environments.  All of the aforementioned components work together.  This process of functions cohesively working is called “automated stereolithographic bioprinting”.

 

Automated Stereolithographic bioprinting uses the mirrors in the microfluidic chip to redirect light on to the surface that is being printed.  Due to the intensity of the light, it allows the printer to trace the object that is being printed.  The intensity of the light cause molecular bonds that are formed called hydrogel bioinks which are used in tissue engineering. The molecular changes cause the organ to firm and extends. This is the same type of function which is done in human tissues whether it be lungs, liver, heart, kidney, or muscle.

 

The team at UCLA first started this project creating pyramids then rapidly realized that the potential of this product.  So far, the team has built tumors and muscle tissue. These tissues that were 3D printed also come with their network of blood vessels. Excluding the muscles, the tumors are slatted to be used as biological models which in studies to treat cancer.  Needless to say the potentials for this printer is not only needed, but also shows the direction that technology is going in the future.   It Gurus Of Atlanta is the premier Microsoft partner of choice that will follow up to ensure that any innovations and changes in technology is captured and brought to focus for our audience.

Amazon Prime Next Day Delivery Now Delivers To Your Car!

If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber than you are already aware of the “free” next day or two-day delivery that comes along with your membership.  Many Amazon shoppers find themselves utilizing the benefits of an Amazon Prime membership as it is more cost effective than paying for delivery fees when ordering.  Shoppers can cut costs by not only getting free shipping, but also in many states and on certain products, they can get same day delivery. Amazon is constantly working to change the canvas and become better in their delivery area.

Due to a high rise in thefts, Amazon launched in “in-home” delivery service where the delivery drivers have access to the customer’s home and can drop off packages directly into the home.  The in-home service gives the customer the security of knowing that their products can not be stolen from the doorstops by any on-looker. This new service has come with its share of scrutiny and with praise. Many customers are skeptical about giving a stranger free access into their home.  Some critics have stated that this feature gives criminals more reason to do home break-ins.  Even though there are mixed reviews about this feature that Amazon offers, its still an effort to gain more security with the delivery of their products.

Amazon has always been known to put on their thinking cap when it comes on to innovation and new ways to reinvent their delivery. Now Amazon has launched “In-Car” delivery which also includes “same-day” delivery.  Yes, if you are thinking “Is this the same as the in-home delivery?”, then yes, you are thinking correctly.  With most people not being that comfortable with giving Amazon free access into their home, the idea of having packages delivered into the car is a much more appealing thought.  This technology Amazon will utilize is called “Amazon Key In-Car”.  For the technology to work, your Amazon account must be able to link to your car service account. Many car companies allow for this linkage such as OnStar and Volvo On Call.

After the accounts are linked together, the customer will have the ability to choose “In-car” delivery.  They will also be able to choose “In-car” same-day shipping.  To setup the delivery process, the customer’s car has o be in a public parking lot and have a backup location such as a home or an office. The app allows for up to a 4hr delivery window, gives information when the package is on its way, and when the package has been delivered.  For security the app gives time stamps of when the car was unlocked and locked to ensure that the car and the package is left securely.

With Amazon being the dominator in the field of “in-home” and “in-car” delivery, the prices for the services has now gone up. Over the years, Amazon has managed to maintain is $99 per year membership fee for Amazon Prime, but in 2018, Amazon Prime subscribers can see a bump in membership fee from $99 to $119. Security and convenience have their cost and Amazon must be able to continue to grow with their efforts to supersede their own standards every year. This comes at a cost.

Transformation of ANY surface into a Biometric Sensor! Ingenious!

Security is top of the line with any innovation. That’s the aspect of technology which frightens even the most daring of people. It allures the second-guessing mentality, doubt, and even the inability to move forward.  Security is the one aspect which has kept many designs from implemented and many new innovations from getting the much-needed attention. This risk of security is a rightful thought as it only takes one breach of data, loss of identity, or corruption of that data, which can cause chaos. That is why many people rely on trusted devices for their security. The conventional house alarm is evolving into one of those technically savvy devices which is rapidly becoming more mobile while keeping the home or business secure.

One innovation which has not yet hit the market, but is making waves is VibWrite. The name alone is a bit confusing, but as we dive more into what this gadget is, is the more the name makes sense. VibWrite is a very innovative device. The overview of the device is that it turns any ordinary flat surface into a biometric ID sensor. This means that VibWrite can change a table, flat handle on a door or car, computer, into a new security focused device. Once the device is installed and programmed, the user simply must place the stored finger or fingers on the surface of the device or door they are trying to access, and it will open the door or computer.

The question arises that how can the device capture any finger print when the surface it is not attached to a readable surface? Well VibWrite has the key.  The technology captures the unique vibrating signature of the bones in the finger. The security question now comes into play to find out how does each person’s finger differentiate from the other?  This is where the security component comes in.  Each person’s bone structure is unique to that person. Because of the difference in the bone structure, when a person presses their finger against a surface, it applies pressure differently. This is what causes the unique surface vibration that the VibWrite stores.

 

VibWrite was not a sole person effort, nor the effort of one organization. VibWrite is the result of the collaborative efforts of researchers at the University of Alabama and Rutgers University.  Together they have tested and manufactured this device.  The ability to not require specific additional hardware other than what comes with the VibWrite, makes this device very cost effective in comparison to other devices that require additional hardware to store.  The device is comprised of a Piezoelectric sensor, Amplifier board, and vibration motor.  Though the device is small, it packs the efficiency of up to 95% accuracy.  The false positive rating for the device is less than 3 percent, making its accuracy more profound than other devices on the market.

With a rapidly booming market that struts an estimated growth of 10 billion by 2018. Even though these larger systems can be bulky, they are the traditional equipment that is currently approved.  The current security systems come with intercoms, fingerprint card readers, and cameras.  VibWrite comes with the two connectors and that is it.  With its small size, VibWrite allows users to choose the security function they want. The security feature of VibWrite grants users access based on a PIN, or lock pattern.

As technology hardware becomes smaller and more powerful, so does its uses and the ability to interconnect both physical and machine. VibWrite is another example of technology boldly making that move. Next Level Security – Microchipping – RFID on the Rise!

Do you ever get tired of reaching for your badge when going to work just so that you can get access? Do you forget your badge at home and have to go through a lot of hurdles just so that you can get access to the building? Do you have a badge for the building, and another access card for your computer? Well there is a rapidly growing company which has an answer for its employees which they are giving them totally free if they opt-in to getting it done. They are offering for their employees to get microchipped with their company access.

 

What do we mean by microchipped, well there are several movies that depict microchipping being done.  One of those movies could be StarTrek where the users simply walk up and the door knows their name or they are able to obtain any data that they need without scanning a badge or showing ID. This is because they had a microchip inserted beneath their skin which is read by the computer close by and it depicts the identity of the person which has the microchip. Three Square Market is a company which is zoning in on that concept and is offering it to their employees as an option this year.

 

 

Their employees will be able to log into computers, use facilities and equipment such as printers, open doors, and much more. Surprisingly enough, many people would squirm at the thought of having a medical procedure done to make it easier to access their job, but according to a report published by the company, about 50 employees have signed up to getting microchipped and more are expected to sign up. Three Market Square received their inspiration from another company called BioHax International which is a leader in microchipping and is pushing its belief in the technology across all platforms as a method of payment, security, and way of life.

 

RFID or Radio-Frequency Identification technology is becoming largely popular as it gives companies security in knowing that the only way for their information to be accessed is by an active employee. This is a one-time process which lasts the entire employment of the employee.  These chips can store critical information such as medical records, financial information, security clearances, log into computers, open doors, sharing business cards, unlocking phones, and much more.  This technology is replacing the need to keep up with passwords, badges, and credit cards, making the person having the chip completely independent of carrying around unnecessary material. The vision of RFID is for it to eventually become a requirement to have passport information, access public transportation, security, and handling all purchases.

 

This technology is by far already in use in society and is greatly becoming more and more frequent. Uses of RFID can be noted by supply chains using it to track goods at various supply chains, find lost dogs or cats, and also to report times from athletes.  This technology is definitely a wave of the future and will drastically change how we live and how we interact with each other on a global scale.  These chips by Three Square Market will be inserted between the thumb and the index finger in the space between the skin in that location. Other companies are researching the possibility of placing the chip in other locations within the body, but for now the hand seems to be the most practical location for being microchipped.
